Dr. Gabus Climbs To New Heights In Glacier National Park

ride 2015

This year marks the 21st year that Dr. Gabus has taken a weeklong bicycle ride for fun, but also to raise funds for a good cause. Many of his patients, friends and business associates have helped him raise money with pledges for his bike rides and for “Miles For Smiles”.

This August he again rode to benefit the Mid-Peninsula Dental Health Foundation (MPDHF).  For over 45 years, MPDHF has provided low-cost dental care for the working poor, who do not have dental insurance or government assistance. “Last year MPDHF provided more than $25,000 worth of care right here in our area, helping children and adults ‘keep on smiling’,” said Dr. Gabus. “As one of the dentists providing care, this is a cause that makes me smile, too.”

The Glacier National Park ride covered some of the most rugged, beautiful terrain in North America. The 6-day ride, from August 9-14, had climbs from 3,250 feet at Flathead River to 10,466 feet atop Mt. Cleveland. Biking the Going-To-The-Sun Road provided spectacular scenery on its way to Many Glaciers Valley. And, that was just the first two days.

During the past eight years, Dr. Gabus has raised more than $92,000 for the MPDHF. 2016's bike ride through Glacier National Park raised almost $12,000, boosting the total to more than $104,000. "While I love these beautiful bike rides, raising money for MPDHF, makes them even better," said Dr. Gabus. "The generous sponsorships of my patients, business associates, and friends have made 'Miles For Smiles' the success it is all these years ."

"People of all ages can feel at ease when visiting Dr. Gabus. Whether it's for a cleaning or filling, I can guarantee you'll be in good hands."
